Memorial Day Service Honors Hampton Veterans
On Memorial Day HHS had our annual service honoring
Hampton’s War Veterans. Many people showed up for this moving event. If
you missed it, I strongly recommend this as a family event that will
stir up many emotions and help you realize the true meaning of Memorial
Day. The event received television coverage from TV Channel 6 Davenport.
Hampton’s Village Board President Sean Mckay publicly thanked the
Society during the Village Board meeting. Special thanks to all who
volunteered to make this event a success.
Museum Clean Up Days
Special thanks to Volunteers who donated their time
to make the Museum look snazzy. Friday’s crew: Jan Corsaro, Carolyn
Larrison, Darrell & Arlene Johnson, Bobbie Beals, and Jane Cady who
physically could not do the work but generously hired some help to do
the job. Saturday’s crew: Randy Baldridge, Marshall, Cheryl & Bill Beals.
THANK YOU ALL!!
Check Out the Village of Hampton Website!
Village President Sean Mckay has added our
Historical Society Webpage as a link on the Village’s webpage.
A Great Find Indeed!
Many Hampton residents’s watched the Fire
Department burn down the former Herb & Doris Oltman home on 2nd
Ave. HHS member Tom Mckay spotted a great treasure where everyone else
saw a pile of debris. Tom found out that many of the bricks from the
foundation were a perfect fit for the museum’s North wall replacement
project. Tom & Darrell Johnson worked very hard to salvage these bricks
and get them out of the dangerous pit. Jane Cady’s hired hand
transported them to our museum’s back lot. A brick cleaning party was
held with Rex Larson, Marshall & Bill Beals. The cleaning party was to
scrape off loose mortar from the bricks and secure them inside the
building. These bricks are very hard to find. Way to go Tom & crew!!

A WORD ABOUT DUES
Our organization relies heavily on the generous &
prompt payment of membership dues. If you haven’t paid for this year
yet, please send your payment as soon as possible. Without you, there
will be no museum in Hampton. If you are not sure if you have paid,
look at the mailing label on this news letter. The year corresponds to
the number on the label. If you have a 07, you are paid through
September 2007. If you have any questions, please contact Vice President
Rocky Nelson @ 309-755-0362.
NEW SERVICE E-MAIL OF NEWSLETTER
You may choose to have your newsletter e-mailed to
you instead of using paper. This would certainly help the Society if
most members could do this.
Please contact Bill at 755-8370, or wbeals@mchsi.com,
if you would like your newsletter e-mailed. To make sure that each
member that signed up for e-mail delivery received an e-mailed copy, we
will give you a paper copy & an e-mail copy, until you e-mail Bill Beals
at
wbeals@mchsi.com and inform him that the new e-mail delivery is
working. We want to make sure every member gets a copy!!
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
It is very important to keep our membership
growing! We ask that each member contact 1-2 friends, neighbors or
relatives this month and tell them about the Society. We are working on
new informational brochures to help, but our growth largely depends on
you!
MEMORIAL RECOGNITION
The Society receives memorial donations in the name
of deceased individuals. These are most of the ones received for 2007.
